The unique handmade paper comes from the Lokta bush which grow naturally on the southern slopes of the Himalayan ains of Nepal. When cut, the bushes quickly regrow making it a renewable source for this tree-free paper. The cut fibers of the lokta bush are then cooked into a mash and then spread by hand over boxed screens. The screens are set to dry in the Himalayan sun with the paper fibers joining soon thereafter creating a tough handmade paper. The deckle edges of the paper (similar to rough cut) add to the vintage rustic look and feel of the journal.
