Is this made in China?

It is my understanding NovaBay, which is in California and can be found on Wikipedia, makes the products. I try not to purchase from China, but it is sometimes hard to tell.

For those of us without microwaves, is there another method of heating?

It is a good question. The design for the eye compress is for use in the microwave for 15 to 20 seconds.
