Are these scoops dishwasher safe?

Absolutely NOT! Took all of the chrome off of them on the first wash. They looked about 60 years old after the dishwasher. People were asking where we got vintage ice scoops!

Would this work to scoop ashes from an attached smoker box on our grill? The bottom of our smoker is rounded like a barrel.

Yes, they would work well for that. I would not use them for food. The scoops are not dishwasher safe.

what is the length of the handle?

The length of the handles is about 5 inches. Mine turned completely black after handwashing them one time. Ended up throwing them out.
