Review Praise for PLUNKED"An uncommonly thoughtful baseball novel." --PUBLISHERS WEEKLY"Well-developed characters and a strong narrative voice make this novel about much more than baseball. . . . Pitch-perfect." --SCHOOL LIBRARY JOURNAL"Readers will appreciate this down-to-earth sports story that stays within its game, offering . . . a realistic story rooted in the writer's knowledge of the game and what it means to its young players." --KIRKUS REVIEWS"What Northrop does particularly well here is to dig into the deep, complex psychology of an at-bat, where there's so much more going on than a simple meeting or missing of a ball and bat." --BOOKLIST Read more About the Author Michael Northrop is the New York Times bestselling author of TombQuest, an epic book and game adventure series featuring the magic of ancient Egypt. A Lesson In Overcoming!
A great story for children and a reminder for adults that legitimate fear can paralyze one's life. Deeper than that, this child started out as self-centered while not a mean person he was not really a team player. The beautiful parts are how his friend helped him with non-judgmental advice and his parents did not overreact to his lies to avoid playing the game. Plunked is a story of resilience and transformation.

Below expectations
I had high hopes for this book as it is on a list of nominees for our state reading award. I was not impressed. The story line is flat. The characters are underdeveloped. The climax is weak with so little excitement and way too much build up.

Concussion City
This book extensively deals with concussions. With all the media buzz about head trauma, we decided not to have our 11 year old son read this book (in fact, we returned it) - he has already had a concussion (skiing) and is sensitive about the subject.
