Very realistic - Worth a shot for pesky birds
Update 2/16/2019: This owl decoy worked great for 2-3 days but the birds must have figured out it was fake. They now pay no attention to it and perch right on my truck mirror like they did prior to me buying this. Your geographical location and placement of this will ultimately decide whether or not this will work for you. Because of this reason, and the fact that it is solidly built, I feel it still deserves the 5 star rating. Original review: Check my video for a demonstration on how this little guy works. So far Iโm very impressed and it has stopped all bird activity (pooping) near my truck. Also one thing I forgot to mention in the video was in regard to the mounting base. There are 3 holes facing downward and 3 supplied wood screws for mounting this to a fixed base. I decided to use some heavier duty deck screws that I knew wouldnโt rust. The included screws would have probably worked fine but I cannot attest to that. If the birds get used to it, or this product fails in any way, I will update this review.

Anti Blue Jay
I have a squirrel feeding station on my back fence. It's a 2 gallon glass jar full of peanuts. We love watching the squirrels feeding. My problem is that the Blue Jays love the peanuts as well. They swarm on the fence and will literally empty the glass jar within minutes. So I started looking for some way to keep the birds away. I noticed that several of the products didn't scare away the squirrels, only birds. Then I found this adorable item. It looks like a real owl. So I ordered it. While waiting for delivery, I re-read the item description and saw that the owl would scare squirrels. Undaunted, when it arrived, I screwed it to the top of a fence post right over the squirrel feeder. Eureka! No more Blue Jays. And the squirrels could care less about the owl. Update: The Blue jays have returned. I haven't seen them kiss the owl yet, but they are ignoring it. Rats. I'll try some other method to keep them away.

Good chipmunk deterrent!!
The parts are in itโs cavity so look there for the head piece! Itโs just ok at deterring the birds, some arenโt afraid of it, and squirrels jump right over it! However, I got it to deter chipmunks and it has been effective for that, no more holes dug in my planters! Update one month later: No more birds, squirrels, chipmunks!! No critters! This ugly owl really works!

Spinning Head encounters too much friction to spin freely
I have several owls like this and if this is the one with the fin on the head that is suppose to catch the wind and rotate it does not work very well. The plastic head contacts the body which results in no head turn that I have seen. It could just be a defect. To me the head would have to be free from all all contact with the body (and spin freely) to work as expected. The colors and artwork are very realistic.

Why didn't the head turn? Other wise good: realistic looking. Just wish it turns.
Head didn't turn.

Lightweight, Colorful, Filling with 5# of Rice
We live in the Northwest Suburbs of IL for 28 yrs and never have had a hawk sighting. Last summer 2017, our neighbor's pine tree plays host to a hawk's nest about 200 feet from our home. Numerous sightings by neighbors have seen the birds attacking animals in surrounding yards and now OUR yard! They prey on small rabbits and small animals and we bought these hoping they would deter the hawks away from our small cat. Grateful also that our neighbor said they have worked for them in the past. I posted 2 so far and not sure if they work but will see in time. Great quality product and takes about 5lb of rice to weigh it down. Head bobbles, but a strong wind is needed for the heads to move on their own. NOTE: some sort of small plastic piece with 2 screws were included for WHAT we don't know? NO instructions were included. We've also heard that it is a good idea to move them around the yard to fake out the hawks who are pretty smart if they remain stationary.

Where did all the rabbits and squirrels go?
I used to wake up every morning and would see a couple of rabbits on my lawn and few squirrels in the trees. So far, so good, I put this guy up a few days ago, and my rabbit and squirrel problem has gone away. Will it work long term? We will see. I drilled a couple of holes in the spots meant for screws and attached a short bungee cord to my owl. He is very secure and easy to move, to various spots on my deck, which is supposed to increase effectiveness.

Not a very effective deterrent
I bought two of these after hearing positive recommendations from family and friends who use similar products to keep birds away. Unfortunately, for me, the birds around here couldn't care less about these owls. The birds sit perched on the owls' heads and continue to make a mess of our back deck and front porch. The owls look nice and are not expensive. The wind-powered motion (the owl's head moves when the wind blows) works when the wind is strong, but not at all in a light breeze. Unfortunately, these don't do what I bought them to do - to keep birds away from my deck and porch.
