The Jim Reeves story started in Panola County, Texas, in August 1923 and ended when he died in a plane crash on 31st July 1964 - yet even today, half a century later, he is still a legend. The Country Music Hall of Fame, to which he was elected posthumously in 1967,made the following citation: 'The velvet style of 'Gentleman Jim Reeves' was an international influence. His rich voice bought millions of new fans to country music from every corner of the world… Posterity will keep his name alive because they will remember him as one of country music's most important performers.' Distorted sound on one track
I would have gone for five stars, being a lifelong fan of Jim Reeves. This is an excellent compilation. 75 tracks on 3 CD's. However l have come across a faulty track on CD no 2. Track 12 Railroad Bum. This is one of my favourites on the LP album, The Country Side of Jim Reeves. This track is either faulty or distorted. Jim's voice comes across as comical. The tempo of the song seems speeded up, l fell off my chair in shock. The preceding track and the following track are both perfect. I haven't checked out discs 1 and 3 yet, so l hope there's no more shocks to come. Have any other purchasers of this set found the same problem?
